I want to be certain that I cover our (your) relationship with the Father, God or Jehovah, as pertains to the privilege of communicating with Him. He is the one who made it possible for us to speak to Him, it was not us way back in the past. He has rules of comportment which, if not followed by we His children, are therefore not heard by HIm. We are His children, He is our Father, so, His rules are not to be forgotten when we ask to speak to Him.
Done correctly, which too few do, it is possible to reach Him but only through His son, our savior, Jesus. This is part of the faith we need to possess before He listens to us. How He answers us is another subject that is individual according to our needs.
A question. How many times have you attempted to speak to Him and got no answer or, better stated, not the answer you were expecting? He works for our good according to His knowledge of what we really need, not what we would like. Example – A prayer to win the lottery is not what we might need no matter how far down we have allowed ourselves to fall financially. His method is to save your life for eternity, not to make you wealthy.
The way I have learned, and this is the reason I felt in necessary for me to share with any who would listen, is this: My heavenly Father, Jehovah, please help me be a better person in YOUR eyes, not mine.
If you want to please Him ask for those things to lift your spirit to His expectations, the primary portion of this is to better your attitude toward your fellows or to bring help to another. Asking for help with depression is yet another but be aware that you also have work to do if you, like me, are subject to bouts of depression. It was He who gave me the presence of mind to help myself and with all prayer there is work that you and I need to do for which He provides the anchor to stabilize us as we progress.
Most importantly. Jesus said of judgement , “You prayed Lord, Lord but I did not hear you.” This shows us to couch our prayer through his name, Jesus. Our savior and God’s first creation to work with Him in creation was Jesus. End your prayer this way, “I ask these things through your son, Jesus Christ and in his name.” Jesus has a name given us for a reason and this is explained in the first passages of Genesis, the first book of the bible.
If you need further explanation – comment here and I will certainly get back to you.
