Which Church?

by Thec · July 23, 2025

Seeing as I have been here on the earth for seventy-six years and have yet to find a church to attend I thought to bring this topic up. It is an important topic for you and I as Jesus told us to join a Christian, belief in HIm as King, congregation of like minded individuals for the seeking of support during the inevitable struggle of being a Christian.

I mention my age here because I began life as a Catholic but left that church at age fifteen almost entirely because I had begun reading the bible. Christianity is difficult as so many of us have been slaughtered over history for our beliefs. From the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and all through history in the MIddle East it has been hazardous to profess one’s faith. It was far worse in the time of Roman rule and before Constantine. Christians garnered the symbol of sheep as they were led to the slaughter by the thousands.

It is different today with so many sects of Christianity believing things in the bible which are subject to interpretation with seemingly separate paths depending on whose definitions one follows. The truth is that the more you read and understand the bible the more it appears to me to dictate one path for all of us and that leads directly to Christ. How one gets there is not of moment as there are many ways to find the love of our Savior if we begin the search. In part, this is why I resurrected this website. I am not a religious zealot or genius and do not pretend to have all the answers. I do have my own history and know that I have been saved through prayer but that is a long and involved story that began in combat in Vietnam and followed me through the rest of my life.

All of this is to say that those who come here might be considered, loosely, a congregation of sorts. I am not a priest, Rabbi or Minister by any definition, I am only one who finds the struggle to have a loving conclusion but only through prayer and faith in the invisible. This is not a thing one puts on the resume is it? It is truth and truth will set you free if you allow yourself to search for, understand, and abide by the truth. Finding truth in this world is a fools errand and that is probably the first lesson of this website. Look only to God through Jesus and the truth will find you. Odd, the way this was set up, right?
