Genesis One

Spread the love

In the Beginning

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

I place this passage from Genesis 1:1-5 here for its intrinsic value to those who believe or, dare I say, know this to be true. The first day. I would love to have been there but I wasn’t ready by many miles. There was much yet to do.

Many say that it is impossible to create all that we have knowledge of in just six days. Let them, for they know little. The Bible uses days in different measures depending on its reference. In the case of Genesis, we have no idea of anything for certain other than a day as described is not our day of twenty-four hours. A poet once stated that one day for Jehovah is one thousand years for us. Who knows. Certainly the poet didn’t but, it sounds good does it not.

The Bible is as simple or complex as you would care to delve in to. Either way, it’s benefits to the human spirit is incalculable. As much angst as I feel knowing that our political system and, indeed, our way of life is being attacked from within I turn to Scripture and am relieved as I know where all this is headed. To a place as God intended for the Earth and us to live forever. The Earth will be fine once Jesus lets us know He is here and doing His Fathers bidding as He always has.
