Draw Closer to God

Spread the love

Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you indecisive ones.

James 4:8

It should be no surprise that if we cry out to God in times of need or turmoil, and this is the only time we approach Him, He will likely not hear you. However, one cannot say what God will or won’t do if not mentioned in Scripture. He works in His own way and this is another reason we should not judge each other. Perhaps this is the prime reason for reserving judgement.

How many times have difficult experiences made ones faith stronger? We know little or nothing about God other than what He chooses to tell us. And the medium for that knowledge is the Bible.

“But you, O Israel, are my servant,You, O Jacob, whom I have chosen, The offspring of Abraham my friend, . . .

Isaiah 41:8

He is the friend to those who believe in their hearts and minds. To those who follow Him and do His bidding as described in Scripture. This is where prayer comes as a line of communication. Don’t let those who do not believe fool you, He is there for you but you have to approach Him first and with consistency. Humble yourselves in front of Him. Yes, God considered Abraham His friend. Just as He walked with Adam in the”breezy part of the day” in the Garden of Eden. How horrible a thing was Adam’s failure to observe God’s one stricture for Adam and Eve: not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. From that moment we have what we have now.
