Belief

Many are the reasons to believe in God, whom I call Jehovah. At the same time it might seem to some that the bible is quite a convenient vehicle of myth because none of it can be seen nor proved. Or can it? I won’t lie, there have been an awful lot of times that I turned away and told myself that it was all myth due in part to science telling us that Carbon 14 dating says that all of the bible’s time lines cannot be true based on Carbon 14. I have mentioned this in an article here already.

I want to address the “mythic” aspect of that we cannot see, touch, feel or hear. We take just what at its word when studying the bible? God, Christ, the disciples, miracles of all sorts? The blind being touched by Christ and seeing for the first time? It seems quite a stretch does it not? But, let’s take the questionable items that so many doubt and speak of the bible as a whole. Of it being God’s word. Of it being accurate despite all the renditions of that book thoughout the centuries, all of the interpretations and all the translations of languages, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, from Moses to Jesus, to John, imprisoned on the Greek Island of Patmos who wrote the last book called, “Revelations.” Divine inspiration, we call this.

First off, let’s speak of science and those studious scientists who make claims contrary to the bible. Let’s do it this way. God created the universe in six days, including the earth as we know it now. God also has no beginning and no end. He has always been and He will always be. No start. No stop. So, how long is one day for God. It may be that God named His creation done in six days so that we can know how fast He did it. It could also be that one day for God might be one hundred thousand years for us, who knows? I certainly don’t. It could also be that Carbon 14 dating works for scientists who already assume it correct as to its functions of dating relics. If Carbon 14 tells us an organic piece of vegetation goes back to 300 B.C. they assume that to be true without argument, in almost all cases. Does that date have any relativity to God’s time? Not really. God does not operate in any way on our schedule or realm. It was God who set up our days due to our created physcial necessities. God is dynamically separate from us but He listens for our sincerity when we speak to Him.

You see, science and God are not on the same plain, God’s plain is the most huge unknown to us. God is elsewhere and that elsewhere is called Heaven by He and, therefore, us. It is not part of this universe as He created this universe from Heaven. The bible is the one and only way we can get to know of Him and what He does because He made it so for us. He did this so that we can take or leave our belief in Him and science has nothing to do with faith, the bible does.

It is all of the above that you should consider before reading the bible. But, know that it is the book given us by God to understand God and it isn’t a sit and read for fifteen minutes book. It is a book to be studied for a good portion of your life so that He knows you are trying to understand Him and, therefore, will gladly lend you a hand. This is called, “FAITH.” Faith in God is what our lives are about so never mix up science and God. If allowed by us, the bible will change our attitudes about most all we do, see, and feel. It gives purpose to us for our lives.

Science, as I’ve said before here, is trying to figure out how God made everything we know of. That is their job but half of them do not understand this either. Hence, the mythological aspect of the bible to they who seek Gods plans and schematics. They can work for eternity and not understand God. They simply aren’t smart enough.
